What is in fact STOPzilla?

I’ll start this article with an excerpt from Wikipedia: STOPzilla is a PC security software for the Microsoft Windows operating system. STOPzilla utilizes a proprietary AVM Technology, a multi-layered malware detection system that detects complex malicious threats while using minimal system resources. STOPzilla’s AVM Technology constantly scans, detects, and quarantines malicious threats without affecting the PC’s performance. STOPzilla AVM protects the user’s computer from computer viruses and malware. The current version of STOPzilla, STOPzilla AVM 2013, incorporates iS3’s new AVM technology, which uses a multi-layered defense architecture, utilizing both heuristic and behavioral detection. STOPzilla can be installed in hostile environments where an infection has already occurred, and its built in anti-rootkit …

Affiliate Downloader

Don’t really have an article to comment on this time. Instead let me add a little something that jumped in my lap. Or maybe you could say, jumped on my computer. It may be that you too run into this and after reading about it here, you will have the answers on how to remove it. My little episode began with my antivirus running out. So I thought I would try another with an equivalent level of protection. Sadly, the new antivirus would not install without removing the firewall in place. I started then just to go back to what I knew worked except trying new stuff is how you …

Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus 2012 short review

As requested by one of the site’s visitor, today I have tested Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus 2012 (hereinafter referred to as WSAA) against the same bunch of malware as in the last article, to make a comparison between it and ByteHero Unknown-virus Detection Software (BDV). The main idea was to test the heuristic analysis capabilities of these products. With an installer of about 618 KB, WSAA seemed to be another revelation and when I received the trial installation key in a webpage containing also this warning: Fasten your seatbelt. You’re about to experience the fastest, most effective Internet security you’ve ever seen. my adrenaline level was raised to the sky. So after …

ByteHero Unknown-virus Detection Software (BDV) review

A few days ago when I was scanning a file on virustotal.com, I noticed a name less known to me: ByteHero. Googling a bit I found the official product website at: http://www.bytehero.com/english.asp. The software is developed in China by ByteHero Information Security Lab and is promoted as a first class dynamic and static heuristic analyzer. Because the main component of it is a heuristic detection engine, the software does not need a virus signatures database therefore there is no need to be updated very often like other antivirus software. Perhaps you will ask why I give so much attention to this heuristic detection engine. Because, I remember the times(just a few …

ZenOK Free Antivirus Professional 2012 review

Only 3 months have passed from this year– 2011 and 2012 versions of some software starts to appear.  ZenOK Antivirus Protection Professional 2012, is intended to be a complete and professional protection for your computer and data(very important !). If we consider the existing two different approaches of the defense, the active defense consisting of installing a good antivirus with antispyware and firewall module and the passive defense consisting of  a secured backup of your most important files or data, then ZenOK Antivirus covers both.     However, if the antivirus is free, the backup feature(storage and service) of ZenOK antivirus  has a price: – 5GB + Increased Security is …

Patriot NG, a new security tool?

Today I’ve tested a less known security tool, Patriot NG 1.1 from www.security-projects.com. Maybe the program is less known because it’s in spanish, not translated yet in english, though all the options and settings are very easy to understand for a native english speaker. The program resides in the system tray, from where you can get access to its main options via context menu-right click. The Control Panel named in spanish “Panel De Control” is very simple and intuitive : As you already guess, the program is watching for alteration all the sensitive area of your Windows system, alerting the user when a program try to make a new connection …
